Nayanthara, Kavin’s ‘Hi’ Telugu Trailer Arrives Ahead of Aug. 28 Release

Vishnu Edavan’s directorial debut pairs Kavin’s Mayilsamy with Nayanthara’s Devayani in a romance driven by awkward situations, family humor and an unexpected turn.
The Telugu trailer for Nayanthara and Kavin’s Hi is out, giving audiences a fuller look at the romantic comedy-drama ahead of its theatrical release on August 28, 2026. Zee Studios South has released an official Telugu version of the trailer as part of the film’s final promotional push.
The trailer establishes Mayilsamy, played by Kavin, as a young man whose attempts at finding love have gone badly enough to become a source of comedy within his own family. The teasing exchanges at home, including his mother’s disbelief over his romantic prospects, set up the lighter side of the film before Devayani, played by Nayanthara, enters his life.
From there, Hi moves beyond a simple meet-cute. The trailer suggests that Mayilsamy and Devayani approach love from very different places, with their relationship pushed into an unusual situation that brings romance, marriage and family expectations into the same equation. The film appears to balance that conflict with situational comedy rather than treating it as an entirely serious relationship drama.
The film brings Nayanthara and Kavin together on screen for the first time. It is also the directorial debut of lyricist-filmmaker Vishnu Edavan, who previously worked with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Vishnu has written the film, while C.U. Muthuselvan is credited with additional screenplay and dialogues.
The supporting cast includes Raadhika Sarathkumar, the late K. Bhagyaraj, Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Aadhithya Kadhir, Kureshi, FEFSI Vijayan, Renji Panicker, Kaviya Arivumani and Mirchy Kemy. Jen Martin has composed the music, Rajesh Shukla is the cinematographer and Philomin Raj is the editor.
Hi was initially announced for an August 14 theatrical release, but the producers subsequently shifted the date by two weeks to August 28. Current ticketing information in India also reflects the revised date.
The film is backed by Rowdy Pictures, Seven Screen Studio and Zee Studios, with Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan and S.S. Lalit Kumar among the producers associated with the project.
For Telugu audiences, the release of an official dubbed trailer confirms that the makers are actively promoting Hi in Telugu as well as Tamil. However, North American distributor details and verified US or Canada booking pages were not found as of August 22, so no overseas theatre information is being reported at this stage.
