Prabhas Pushes Limits for ‘Spirit’, Shoots 16 Hours Non-stop
Prabhas’ much-awaited collaboration with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit, is progressing at a brisk pace, with nearly 40 per cent of the shooting already completed.
Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga, speaking at a press meet for 'Romanchakam', revealed that the makers intend to complete the remaining portions within the next two or three months. The 40-per-cent milestone had earlier been disclosed by Sandeep during an event in the United States. India Today
Prabhas is currently occupied with his other film, commonly referred to as Fauji. Once he returns to the sets of Spirit, the team plans to shoot the remaining portions without prolonged interruptions.
Pranay also disclosed that no body double had been used for Prabhas so far, including during the action portions. Praising the actor’s commitment, he said Prabhas had worked continuously for nearly 16 hours on two or three occasions.
Sandeep, according to Pranay, prefers to continue filming when an actor is in the right emotional rhythm rather than interrupting the performance merely because the scheduled working hours are over. Prabhas reportedly cooperated fully with this demanding method, underlining the intensity with which the actor and director are approaching the project.
Pranay also addressed Triptii Dimri’s entry into the film following Deepika Padukone’s departure. Describing Triptii as a “fantastic performer”, he said she suited the character conceived by Sandeep and was therefore chosen for the role. Triptii had earlier worked with the director in Animal.
The producer, however, did not go into the controversies or reported differences surrounding Deepika’s exit, choosing instead to emphasise Triptii’s suitability for the part.
Pranay also confirmed Prabhas’ well-known habit of treating film crews to elaborate meals. Asked whether the actor continued the tradition on the sets of Spirit, he laughingly said that Prabhas regularly sent a wide range of food for the unit.
With Prabhas playing an intense police officer under a filmmaker known for psychologically volatile protagonists, Spirit remains one of the most anticipated Indian films. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
