The actor-producer expands his involvement in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic as the film prepares for a major international theatrical rollout, with advance ticket bookings already available in North America.

Kannada star Yash is taking on another responsibility in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. In addition to portraying Ravana and co-producing the ambitious mythological drama, the actor will oversee its theatrical distribution in Karnataka through his production company, Monster Mind Creations.

The development comes as the first installment of the two-part epic prepares for its worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, including the United States and Canada.

Monster Mind Creations has established a dedicated distribution division to handle the Karnataka territory, expanding the company's operations beyond film production. The arrangement was reported by The Hollywood Reporter India and Bollywood Hungama on October 26.

For Yash, whose popularity grew internationally following the KGF films, the move strengthens his involvement in one of Indian cinema's largest upcoming productions. Rather than limiting his participation to acting and producing, he will now have a direct role in the film's theatrical business in his home market.

Major Distributors Finalized Across India and Overseas

The producers have assembled a distribution network covering India's major theatrical markets and international territories.

Sony Pictures is handling international distribution, including the North American release, while Dharma Productions, associated with Karan Johar, is overseeing the Hindi-speaking North Indian market.

In South India, Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations will distribute the film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Monster Mind Creations will handle Karnataka, Think Studios will manage Tamil Nadu, and Mukesh Mehta's E4 Entertainment will oversee Kerala.

‘Ramayana’ US and Canada Release: November 5, 2026

For Indian moviegoers in North America, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is receiving a theatrical release through Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Sony's official Canadian website confirms the November 5 opening, while major American theatre chains have begun listing the film for advance bookings.

The film is also listed for November 4 preview screenings at select North American locations, ahead of its regular November 5 opening.

Unlike many Indian films whose overseas releases depend primarily on regional distributors, Ramayana benefits from Sony Pictures' international theatrical distribution infrastructure.

The release is positioned to reach both Indian diaspora audiences and moviegoers interested in large-scale fantasy and mythological cinema.

Star-Studded Cast and International Music Team

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal and Chhichhore, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

The project is produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, with visual effects company DNEG involved in bringing the epic to the screen.

One of the production's distinctive features is its musical collaboration between Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.

The film's official international title, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, reflects its positioning as a global theatrical release. The first installment is scheduled for November 5, 2026, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027.

For Yash, the Karnataka distribution agreement adds another dimension to his involvement in the franchise. With Sony Pictures overseeing international markets and established Indian distributors handling regional territories, the film is preparing for a coordinated theatrical launch across multiple languages and formats.
