The Paradise Setback Puts Chiranjeevi-Srikanth Odela Film In Doubt
One successful film can completely change a director’s career, and Dasara did exactly that for Srikanth Odela. The film brought him considerable demand in Tollywood, and his second project was made on a budget reportedly three times that of Dasara. Even before its release, Megastar Chiranjeevi agreed to work with Odela, and the project was officially announced.
However, Odela’s latest film The Paradise appears to have changed the situation. The film has received criticism, and despite showing some promise over the opening weekend, its overall box-office performance is now being viewed as a disappointment. This has also raised questions about what lies ahead for the director.
Under the current circumstances, there appears to be little movement on the Chiranjeevi-Odela project for now. There is speculation that The Paradise may have prompted Chiranjeevi to reconsider his plans. Before the film’s release, Nani had also indicated that the project with Chiranjeevi could take some time.
Chiranjeevi is currently working on Kaka and is reportedly considering other options for his next project. As a result, there is uncertainty over whether Odela’s next film will be with Chiranjeevi.
Odela may now need to prove himself again with another successful film before the project can move forward. However, finding a leading actor willing to give him the same creative freedom may not be easy. Nani is currently unavailable, while a producer willing to back the project with the confidence shown by Sudhakar Cherukuri would also be needed.
For Odela, the road ahead could therefore be challenging—not just in convincing a hero and producer to back his next project, but also in delivering a successful film that can revive the momentum he gained with Dasara.
