Telugu Associations Line Up Sports, Cultural and Service Events Across US
Women's Cricket Tournament, Volleyball Tournament, Singing Star 2026 competition and blood donation camp are lined up at different places in the country.
Telugu associations across the United States have scheduled a series of sporting, cultural and community-service programmes during September, ranging from picnics and competitions to a blood donation drive.
In Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Telugu Sangham (OTS) will hold Picnic 2026 on September 12 at Hafer Park, Pavilion 2, in Edmond. The event will begin at 3.30 pm and continue until 9 pm at 1034 S. Bryant Avenue.
September 19 will be a day of sporting activity for Telugu communities in Ohio and Alabama.
The Telugu Association of Central Ohio (TACO) will conduct a Women’s Box Cricket Tournament from 8.30 am at Crics 22Yards in Plain City. The team entry fee is $85, according to promotional material issued by the association. TACO has also provided an online registration link for participating teams.
On the same day, the Telugu Association of Birmingham Alabama (TABALA) will organise its Volleyball Tournament 2026 at the Pelham Recreation Center in Alabama.
TACO is also inviting entries for its Singing Star 2026 competition. The contest is open to participants aged seven and above, with separate sub-junior, junior and adult categories. The deadline for registration is September 11.
Auditions and preliminary rounds will be conducted in person, while the semifinal and grand finale will form part of TACO’s 2026 Diwali celebrations, according to the association’s promotional material.
Community service will take centre stage in Pennsylvania later in the month. The Telugu Association of Greater Delaware Valley (TAGDV), in association with the American Red Cross, will organise a blood donation drive on September 26.
The drive will be held from 9 am to 2 pm in Conference Rooms 144 and 148 of College Hall at Montgomery County Community College, 340 Morris Road, Blue Bell. Prospective donors have been asked to schedule appointments through RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code “TAGDV”.
The American Red Cross says someone in the United States needs blood or platelets approximately every two seconds. Its website allows donors to locate blood drives and schedule appointments using event-specific sponsor codes.
