RC17: Shashwat Sachdev in the Race to Replace Devi Sri Prasad?
Updated: Sep 26
Some film combinations have a special buzz and vibe of their own, and Sukumar and Ram Charan's pairing is one such blockbuster combination. Their previous collaboration, Rangasthalam, created a storm at the box office and went on to break several records. Naturally, fans and moviegoers are eagerly waiting for their upcoming project, tentatively titled RC17.
However, a major update surrounding the film's music has been making rounds in Tollywood circles. According to reports, Devi Sri Prasad, Sukumar's long-time musical collaborator, may not be composing the music for RC17.
A Sukumar film and DSP's music have long been considered an inseparable combination. From Arya, Sukumar's debut, to Pushpa 2, Devi Sri Prasad has scored music for all of the director's films. His albums and background scores have played a significant role in complementing Sukumar's storytelling and taking key sequences to another level.
Devi Sri Prasad was therefore widely expected to be part of RC17 as well. However, reports suggest that Sukumar is now looking at a new music director for the project.
According to industry buzz, DSP's packed schedule could be one of the reasons behind his reported exit from the project. He is currently making his acting debut with Yellamma, directed by Balagam fame Venu Yeldandi, while also composing the film's music. He is also attached to Nagarjuna's milestone project King 100 as its music director. With multiple commitments and his new responsibilities as an actor, adjusting dates for RC17 is reportedly proving difficult.
While the names of Anirudh Ravichander and several other composers have been discussed for RC17, Dhurandhar fame Shashwat Sachdev is now reportedly leading the race.
Sukumar is said to have been impressed by Shashwat's work and is currently in the final stages of discussions with him. An official announcement from the makers is expected soon.
Meanwhile, Sukumar is reportedly focused on locking the script and finalising the cast. The makers are said to be planning a grand launch around Dussehra. Ram Charan is also expected to sport a completely new look and characterisation in the film, with reports suggesting that his makeover will be unlike anything seen before.
After the massive success of Rangasthalam, all eyes are now on Sukumar and Ram Charan's next collaboration. Whether the new musical combination can recreate the magic of their previous outing remains to be seen.
