Mahesh’s Varanasi Tops IMAX YouTube Views, Beats Hollywood Blockbusters
SS Rajamouli's upcoming film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, is creating a buzz on the international stage even before its theatrical release. The ambitious project has reportedly set a record on the official IMAX YouTube channel, with its glimpse outperforming several major Hollywood and Indian film promotions.
Since its announcement, Varanasi has generated considerable excitement among moviegoers. Rajamouli, known for delivering visually spectacular films, is reportedly working to ensure high technical standards for the project. The film is currently in post production and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
Despite the release being several months away, the film's promotional content continues to attract attention online. The glimpse, released around a year ago, has reportedly crossed 10.8 million views on the official IMAX YouTube channel, making it the most viewed video on the platform, according to reports.
The achievement is particularly noteworthy as the glimpse has reportedly surpassed promotional videos associated with major projects such as Hollywood film Avatar The Way of Water and Prabhas starrer Saaho on the channel.
Varanasi has also reportedly recorded impressive numbers on Dolby's official YouTube channel. With more than 7.3 million views, the glimpse is said to have secured the second position among film trailers and promotional videos on the platform, behind Avengers Infinity War.
The reported numbers highlight the growing international interest in Indian cinema and the anticipation surrounding the collaboration between Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu. Rajamouli previously attracted global attention with films such as Baahubali and RRR, and expectations are high for his latest project.
With Varanasi generating significant online engagement well ahead of its release, fans are eagerly waiting to see whether the film can translate its digital popularity into box office success and achieve new milestones worldwide.
