AMARAVATI: Another depression has formed over the Bay of Bengal between Myanmar and the Andaman region, according to the Meteorological Department.
The system is expected to intensify into a deep depression within the next 12 hours. At present, it is located about 580 km east-northeast of Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is moving in a north-northwesterly direction, according to the weather authorities.
The system is likely to move toward the northeastern Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh, where it could cross the coast within the next 72 hours.
The weather system is expected to bring rainfall to several parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Weather officials have also forecast winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph in some areas.
The latest system comes after a previous deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal and crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam, bringing widespread rainfall to several districts in northern Andhra Pradesh.
