Andhra HC judges bid farewell to CJ Thakur; Lisa Gill to take over

Amaravati, April 24: Judges and members of the Bar at the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday bid farewell to Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur on his superannuation, with Justice Lisa Gill set to assume office from April 25.
Addressing the farewell, Justice Gill described Justice Thakur as a service-oriented member of the judiciary.
“Talented judge Justice Thakur was an embodiment of an administrator with foresight and humanitarian values,” she said, according to a press release.
She said his contributions would remain part of the state’s judicial history.
Justice Gill’s appointment as Chief Justice takes effect from April 25, in terms of a notification issued by the Government of India under Article 217(1) of the Constitution.
S Abdul Nazeer congratulated Justice Gill on her appointment.
“I extend my hearty congratulations and best wishes to Smt Justice Lisa Gill on her appointment as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. I wish her a successful and fruitful tenure,” he said.
